We’re David Noakes, Sonay Ozkutayli and Uthman Ukueku, your local Liberal Democrat team for London Bridge & West Bermondsey. We all live in SE1 and SE16 and we are standing to provide visible and local representation for our neighbourhood.

David has lived in Bermondsey since 2006 and previously served as a Southwark councillor for 20 years. He works as a Community Safety Officer and is active locally in a number of  groups, including litter picks. Sonay is a working mum of two and an award-winning community advocate who has supported young people and families across Southwark for years. Uthman is a local father with more than 15 years’ experience in the charity sector, supporting vulnerable young people and working with services to improve lives. He also sits on a local TMO, standing up for residents’ voices.

We love this area for its character, diversity and energy, but we also know the pressures many residents face especially on housing, the cost of living and concerns around crime and anti-social behaviour. That is why we have made safer and cleaner streets and estates central to our campaign, including listening to residents’ experiences through a ward-wide crime survey and taking up community safety concerns.

We are also helping residents with housing problems such as damp and mould, overcrowding, poor-quality major works, high service charges and landlords who do not respond. Labour-run Southwark Council too often falls short, whether as a landlord or in how it involves residents in big decisions.

We want a council that responds properly, spends money wisely, and gives local people more of a say over what happens in their area. If elected, we will focus on straightforward priorities: improving the council’s housing performance, keeping streets and estates cleaner and safer, making sure residents have a real voice in planning decisions, and backing local community organisations that hold the area together.
