A message of thanks from your Southwark Liberal Democrat Councillors ...
The Covid-19 pandemic has affected all our lives in different ways and we know many families in our borough have been tragically impacted by the virus. We send our condolences and thoughts to all those who have suffered.
All of us have made changes and sacrifices to help limit the impact of the virus, and we would like to express our deepest thanks to all residents, businesses, mutual aid groups, key workers, community organisations, council workers and our incredible NHS for your contributions to keeping us safe.
Throughout the crisis, we have been continuing to work for you across Southwark. We have been supporting our most vulnerable communities, getting them the help they need and working on the side of residents throughout the pandemic. From helping with your concerns and issues, to gaining assistance from the Council and other organisations, we have also had the amazing help of wonderful volunteers and witnessed incredible networks of support across the borough of which we should all stand proud.
Whilst a difficult and challenging time, the pandemic has offered us all an opportunity to change our ‘normal’. Many of us are using parks for the first time, or cycling and walking rather than using public transport. Many people are getting to know their local community better, through new networks established during lockdown.
We want to make sure that these opportunities to rethink our normal are not forgotten as we recover from the pandemic. From celebrating the remarkable strength of our local communities, to tackling the impact of inequalities and climate change, we will seek to work cross-party at a local and national level to embed the positive changes as well as work on addressing the big issues that this pandemic has shone a light on.
All of us have played a role during the pandemic no matter how large or small, and as your Liberal Democrat councillors in Southwark, we look forward to continuing to work hard for you together with our wonderful community throughout the rest of 2020 and beyond. Should you need our help or support at all, please do get in touch using our contacts below.
To each and everyone of you, thank you again for everything you’ve done.
