Clean Up Southwark

Southwark Labour are rubbish on rubbish. Sign the petition and join the campaign to get the council clean up our streets.

The streets of Southwark are piling up with litter, fly-tipping and overflowing bins while rat infestations have increased to the second highest in the UK. Labour have actively made this problem worse by reducing our street cleaning services and increasing the upfront fee to pest control services. They are now refusing to acknowledge the problem even exists.

Other councils, such as Liberal Democrat run Kingston, are tackling litter and fly-tipping with effective policies while Southwark is falling behind.

The Southwark Liberal Democrats are calling on the council to listen residents and clean up our streets:

  • Maintain existing street cleaning rotas

  • Remove the bulky waste collection charge

  • Launch "bulky waste collection days" to be held on a regular basis, providing an active incentive for people to dispose of their furniture and white goods responsibly

  • Create a dedicated fly-tipping taskforce in the council

  • Increase the number of public bins and produce a map with the locations of all public bins in the borough

  • Expand the existing discount for rat inspections to all residents
