LONDON BRIDGE AND WEST BERMONDSEY: We will improve our streets by solving noise issues and adapting traffic closures. The Liberal Democrats want to make life more pleasant for residents outside of their homes by opening up opportunities to use council office space and by greening the Low Line.
- A co-designed Bermondsey Street low traffic neighbourhood (LTN). The Liberal Democrats will start a full co-design process with residents and businesses around the Bermondsey Street area to properly assess and tackle the issues of the LTN.
- Easier working conditions for our residents. We will open up ground floor space at the council’s Tooley Street office for residents to work from should they wish.
- Quieter streets. We will work with businesses that are open late to create plans for streets such as Druid Street and Enid Street in order to minimise noise issues. This would include hiring street marshals, implementing crowd control at busy times of the day, and agreeing operating hours to ensure residents are not losing sleep from noise
Heavily greening the Low Line and a Parks Strategy. We will green the Low Line, clean associated tunnels and will promote a healthier, friendlier and more inclusive cultural atmosphere while reducing anti-social behaviour. We will continue developing a joint parks strategy to link Tanner Street Park, Leathermarket Gardens and Guy Street Park including co-designed play spaces, environmental plans and places for residents to relax.
