DULWICH: Residents’ concerns over the Low Traffic Neighbourhood (LTN) measures in Dulwich have been ignored. The Liberal Democrats would remove the LTN scheme and work with the community to develop fairer alternatives, including by increasing options for greener travel locally. We also want to enhance sporting and cultural opportunities, and support local businesses, with more community engagement.
- Remove the current Dulwich LTN measures and co-design fairer alternatives with the community. We believe the Dulwich LTN scheme has been implemented with insufficient community engagement and has led to detrimental effects. We will fight to remove the traffic measures and for an independent third party to oversee a comprehensive consultation with residents and businesses to develop fairer, environmentally friendly alternatives to reduce congestion and pollution.
- Provide greener and more sustainable travel alternatives. We will work to increase sustainable transport provision by campaigning for TfL to bring environmentally friendly buses to the area and we will introduce an electric shuttle bus service in the meantime. The Liberal Democrats will fund the installation of 100 more cycle hire docking stations across the borough and will guarantee an electric vehicle charging point within 200 metres of every home.
- Investing in Dulwich’s prominent attractions. We want to spend money on increasing the biodiversity of Dulwich Park and expanding its fitness routes. Dulwich Picture Gallery is a cultural highlight and we will promote school visits to the site while funding more discounted tickets. We will work with clubs like Dulwich Hamlet FC to help promote sport among our young people more.
- Supporting Dulwich and Herne Hill’s businesses. The pandemic has been tough for local businesses. We want to help them and showcase our fantastic shops and traders through a new Dulwich Market.
