Southwark Liberal Democrats have been left frustrated by the disappointing news that plans to improve a playground on the St Saviours Estate have been pulled after funding was not secured.
Assurances were made by council officers that the money would be available to make the much needed improvements to the playground however due to current restrictions on the allocation of Section 106 funds, no funding will now be offered to progress the playground improvement project and it has therefore been cancelled.
Councillor Damian O’Brien, Deputy Leader of Southwark Liberal Democrats and Grange ward councillor, said:
“I am absolutely furious with the decision to cancel what was an exciting project to improve St Saviours Estate playground for children. I was assured by council officers that the funding would be made available so to hear that higher authorities at the council have decided not to allocate resources to improve the play area is massively infuriating.”
“I have written to officers to outline my disappointment at the decision and will continue to fight for the improvements to be made.”
