My name is Daniel Beckley. I am originally from Freetown, Sierra Leone, proud husband and father of three boys. I am a member of the English Martyrs’ parish and have lived in Southwark for over 20 years. Currently, I work as a professional support staff at a Russell group university in London. All three of my children have grown up, gone to school in Southwark and now study Medicine, Law and Computer science respectively at University. The Liberal Democrats for me is the most representative political party for the diverse society for which London embodies. I am running for councillor because I want to make London a place where everyone no matter their background can be treated fairly and equally.
I grew up in Lambeth and I am always proud to say that I am a South Londoner. I am proud to come from the most cosmopolitan city in world, where we live, work, and study alongside people from all walks of life and all corners of the globe. I got involved with the Liberal Democrats because they are the only party standing up for the liberalism that makes London so great. They champion fairness, equality, internationalism, and community empowerment, and they consistently fight against bigotry in all its forms. In my lifetime, Britain has never needed these values more.
I am a student teacher with the Institute of Education working in schools in South London teaching Citizenship and Humanities. Before that I worked in Southwark for an international children's rights charity.
