The publication of expenses is long overdue - Hughes

9.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Thu 18th Jun 2009

"I welcome the publication of all MPs expenses today. I have always supported full publicity of all payments to MPs and opposed all attempts to restrict access to these figures. Members of the public will now be able to view the way their Members of Parliament have spent public money.

As a London MP I do not and have never claimed for a second home. But, I am aware that it was on second homes where some of the worst abuses took place. The reality is that if the Daily Telegraph had not published these details some of these worst claims would have been kept out of the public eye."
