Labour pest lies cause concern for residents

Only the Liberal Democrats are committed to scrapping the unfair council tax.

Labour's lies on pest control have been exposed

Southwark Liberal Democrats have condemned local Labour Party campaigners for lying to residents about the council's contract for pest control.

The letters, sent to residents in Faraday, East Walworth and Livesey wards, claim that there have been cuts to pest and vermin control as well as stating that the contract has been put on hold, causing immense fear and concern.

None of these statements are true and the Liberal Democrats have in fact improved the way the council tackles pests with more staff and more resources.

Commenting, Councillor Stephen Flannery, Southwark Liberal Democrat Executive Member for Housing, said:

"Labour's scare mongering is an absolute disgrace. Sending false information to residents is a serious breach of the councillors' code of the conduct.

"Not only is it untrue that we are cutting pest control, it is the exact opposite. We are improving and expanding the service.

"It is quite clear that it is Labour campaigners who are being the pests and causing unnecessary concern for residents."
