A LIB DEM COUNCIL WILL BRING FREE WI-FI TO SOUTHWARK

Southwark Liberal Democrats will bring free Wi-Fi to public areas in the borough if they win control of the council on 22 May.

In a modern city, people want to be able to connect to colleagues, business contacts and friends at home, in the office or out and about. So it’s surprising that, unlike many towns in the UK and even other London boroughs, Southwark currently has no official public Wi-Fi.

This is even more surprising when you consider that Wi-Fi agreements between councils and internet providers are relatively simple to set up, and can even be established at no cost to the council.

So as part of our jobs and business policy, Southwark Liberal Democrats made a commitment to get public Wi-Fi up and running across the borough if we take control of the council on 22 May, to support local businesses, attract more tourists and provide a free public service to residents.

Below are some pictures from Southwark Liberal Democrats' "Wireless Southwark" tour, when we took a giant iPad around the borough to promote the campaign!
